I could say that a million times and still scream it from the roof tops. I've had lots of cancer close to me lately. Normally it's a friend of a friend or distant person in my life but lately it's been siblings and parents of people close to me and even a few friends. I decided it was time for me to do my part and do what I can. It might not be much but at least I feel like I am doing something, so I joined a relay for life team. My friend Libby recently had surgury for cervical cancer and I have joined her team Mia's Cupcakes. I am walking for Diana, Bekki, Jean, Shirley, Joni, Carolina, Libby and the many others who have touched my life recently. I HATE CANCER and I am going to do something about it. My goal is to raise $250 so hopefully with some support I can reach that goal and do something good.
Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-70836605718987925402010-07-23T15:49:00.001-07:002010-07-23T15:51:08.583-07:00Cabo San LucasWe spent our last port day in Cabo! It is very pretty here. Lots of activity and people. We were all quite tired from the last two days and it was in the high nineties today so we finished up our shopping and headed back to the ship. We had a short day here it was only 7-2. We have now set sale and have headed for for home!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-79038655850733914372010-07-23T15:45:00.000-07:002010-07-23T15:49:01.529-07:00MaazatlanYesterday we were in port in Mazatlan. We decided to book a shopping, beach and lunch excursion. We went and did some shopping in the "golden zone" which is a big shopping district. .We were then taken to El Sid Resort for some beach play and swimming. We had free reign of the resort. We spent the first hour playing on the beach. We had red flag seas which meant the waves were quite large. We then had a mexican buffet lunch and headed to the pool side. We had an amazing pool with water falls and cliffs that we could jump off. It was a very cool place with Iguanas everywhere! We liked this port think we'll have to visit here again (we'll have to talk Uncle Dick) back on board headed to Cabo!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-61669210364194273832010-07-23T15:41:00.000-07:002010-07-23T15:45:18.926-07:00Puerto VallartaIt was SO hot when we got off the boat. He hopped a taxi to a place called Sea Life Park where we surprised Lena with a dolphin swim (her biggest want on this trip) Aaron and I did it too. SO so so neat. We got to play with them and they pushed us with their noses. It was amazing. The other side of the park was a big water slide park. Unfortuanatly when we went over to go sliding the water wasn't running in the slides. We were informed that the power wasn't working and that it would be fixed in 15 minutes later..... 2 hours later finally the slides were working. We went to do some shopping along the beach after that. We even found a Mcdonalds and had some lunch!! Back on the ship and headed to Maazatlan!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-71804567656927216282010-07-20T22:02:00.000-07:002010-07-20T22:07:30.290-07:00Sea day one and twoYesterday was our first day at sea. We did a lot of swimming, watersliding and hot tubbing! The kids are loving that they can swim all they want and then take a break to get food! They both have unlimited pop stickers and love that they get to go to the bar to get their drinks! Lena and I stayed up late last night and went to see the Carnival Splendor dancers. She LOVED all the costumes and has now decided she is going to keep dancing so she can work on a cruise ship! We also went and watched some Karaokee though we didn't participate...yet!

Today was our second sea day. Again we spent quite a bit of time in the pool! We then had some down time in the cabin. Jason and I were out on our balcony looking around and we spotted a dolphin and her baby! SO cool but that wasn't the last of it we also saw a big ol' sea turtle riding the boats waves and several rays. Even cooler! I've never seen animals like that in the wild so it was very very cool! Tonight was a fiesta show with the dancers and again Lena was loving it!

After two days at sea we get to finally touch land tomorrow for our first shore day! Purto Vallarta here we come! I'll upload soem pictures with tomorrows post!!!

Adios!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-14038104859035193582010-07-19T11:05:00.000-07:002010-07-19T11:08:05.242-07:00Day OneDay one was full of travel and getting acquainted with our ship! The kids are loving it so far! Lena's bag didn't arrive like it was supposed to and she was worried. It showed up finally and we were able to finally go in the pool! Spent sometime in the pool and lots of time in the hot tub. Unfortunately we ended up with the late dinner seating (1/3 of the boat is kids under the age of 18) so we don't eat until 8:15 means late nights for the kids as our show time isn't until 10:30!! They are being troopers though!! More later!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-62665732692081071712010-07-05T16:05:00.000-07:002010-07-05T16:10:20.222-07:00The wonderful world of Weight WatchersFive weeks ago I started Weight Watchers. My reasoning? My baby is now 7 years old and in second grade so I just don't feel justified in calling it "baby weight" anymore!!! If you follow my blog you know that I did South Beach for a while I started that at 173 pounds and got down to 163 pounds. I put about 4 pounds back on from that and started the weight watchers diet at 167 pounds......... after 5 weeks of the plan (and more to go I'm only 1/2 way there) I now weigh in at 157 pounds! The day I broke 160 was an amazing day for me. I haven't been below 160 pounds since before I had Aaron. I know 160 doesn't sound THAT heavy to most of you but I started this journey (before my kids ruined me!! :o) at 110. Now I know I'll never be that low again and I am okay with that. My short term goal is 145 and my ideal goal weight is 140. Did I mention that I LOVE weight watchers? It is amazing. I don't feel deprived I still pretty much eat what I want I am just much more aware of what I am eating and how my body reacts when I eat to much (did I mention the 4th caused me to gain 2 pounds?) but I've also leared that it's okay to have an off day or two. It doesn't normally stick around for to long!!!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-72016490047837404592010-07-05T15:53:00.000-07:002010-07-05T15:58:39.105-07:004th of JulyFourth of July has passed by the second year in a row with things seeming just a tad ascue for me. You see for 11 years Jason and I were the King and Queen of 4th of July.... we had a big bbq, invited tons of friends and family and spent a small fortune on a aresenol of fireworks. Last year on July 1st we moved into our new house which very amazing happens to sit right smack dab in the middle of a bunch of trees. Alas we can not celebrate the 4th as we have in years past. We went from having 1.2 acres of flat level grassy land to 1.5 acres of wooded land. Not so party/firework friendly. We are in the process of putting in a lawn and with luck will be back at it next year. Maybe not with the same kinds of fireworks as years past but atleast we can host again and do what we love. Having parties and feeding our friends is what makes us happy. The 4th this year was a quiet family affair at my in-laws. It was nice to get to sit and relax and not have to worry about entertaining anyone but secretly we really do miss it!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-40153513559765537322010-06-18T14:46:00.000-07:002010-06-18T14:49:44.078-07:00Summer!!Yeah summer is finally here! The first day of vacation even came with a little sunshine! Today the kids and I went to Lake Padden and had a picnic then walked around the lake. It was beautiful out there today! We have a pretty busy summer of baseball, vacation and camp. Lena will be going to her first year of Firwood this year. She is so excited she can hardly stand herself. Before she goes though we will be going on a Mexican Rivera Cruise. All 4 of us. We're very excited about this trip and can't wait to go!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-7740875201646364572010-06-17T18:11:00.000-07:002010-06-17T18:17:20.255-07:00Geneva Elementary Home of the Gnomes

As most of you know my family moved this last summer. We moved across town which meant changing schools for the kids. We made the move in the summer so that they wouldn't have to switch schools in the middle of the year. Our new school is Geneva and we couldn't be happier. We love our new home! We're not thrilled about the mascot, we are now the Gnomes! Yep the Gnomes!! Geneva has the most amazing principal who is such a good sport. He even sported a "Greatest American Hero" costume...blonde curly wig and all! We also had a transition when Whatcom's sixth graders came into the school. It was quite the experience because the kids embraced them and welcomed even dubbing us the "Wild Gnome-Cats" (whatcom is the wildcats). All in all it was an amzing year. We can't wait until next year when I will have a second grader and a *gulp* a fifth grader!!!!!
Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-32956596582385128332010-06-12T22:22:00.000-07:002010-06-12T22:27:35.436-07:00Photo ShootToday I took the kids out for a photo shoot. I couldn't think of what to do for Jason for Fathers day so I decided to get some new pictures of the kids so that we can update the one's he has in his office. So I lost 10 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Now comes the tricky part of phasing back in carbs and sugars without over doing it! I have to admit I am excited for fruit and the occasional piece of bread but I think I could still survive okay without them. So on to the next phase. I'll be on this one until I reach my goal weight which is 140....Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-46942615759934087082009-08-03T07:54:00.000-07:002009-08-10T11:16:08.052-07:00Week one ends......now round two!Okay so last night at 11:59pm ended week one of South Beach. A couple bumps along the way and I've had to modify breakfast just a little bit but at the end of the day it all seems to be working.... so I started on Monday at 173 at the end of week one.....drum roll please.......................................I've lost 7 pounds!!!! Holy Moses!!! If I keep up like that by the end of week 2 I'll have lost 16 pounds. That's CRAZY!! Motivates me to stick with it though. Even though it's hard. We went hiking at Mt. Baker yesterday and with the heat I think I might have burned more calories than I ate!! Felt a little tired last night and today the muscles in my legs are letting me know I used them!!! Feeling good this morning. Working for the next 3 days so this should be interesting! Just....say...no...to...french fries!!! :o)Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-7441129659931670442009-08-01T10:36:00.000-07:002009-08-01T10:39:25.218-07:00It's day 6 and I'm still going....kindaOkay okay I admit it I cheated this morning! I had a waffle with peanut butter (the waffle part is a no no) BUT I figure if that is the only cheating I do then I am good. I am not an egg person. I don't care for them, I very rarely eat them and the thought of eating another egg this morning made me want to gag. So I did the waffle. We'll see if it makes a difference in the morning. I did control myself last night though. Was very hard. The family had pizza....ooey gooey warm and yummy smelled so good I stared at it the whole time I was eating my salad pizza.... way to torture myself huh?? But I didn't have any! Not even a bite!! YEAH ME!!! (anyone watch suit life???) Anyway, yesterday was my hardest day by far. I was sorta in the downy dumps and was just about to throw in the towel but I didn't and I'm still going (waffle aside it was whole grain if that makes a difference....) anyway weigh in on Monday we'll see how I'm doing then!!!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-78213750598599289752009-07-30T08:12:00.000-07:002009-07-30T08:14:28.490-07:00South Beach + Hot weather = tortureOMG I am having such a hard time with this diet and the weather. First of all I LOVE ice cream and what better time to have it then when it's so hot... but I can't. The sugar free popcicles just don't seem to be doing it. And on top of that this diet requires you to cook... I can not even fathom turning on the stove right now. We had turkey hotdogs and cottage cheese last night because I was able to micorowave the hotdogs!! I'm sticking to it though. Still haven't cheated to the best of my knowledge and other than the ice cream craving I seem to be wanting sugary things less and less. I think I'll wait until Monday to do the weigh in. That way it's been a full week......Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-16375385393101944972009-07-29T08:11:00.001-07:002009-07-29T08:14:10.561-07:00Another day of dietDoing good and so begins day 3. I think I got a little off scew yesterday. I don't think I ate enough for lunch and with the heat I ended up not feeling well yesterday afternoon at all. Nausea and sweaty (yes even more so then with the heat). I retreated to the basement where it was cooler after a nap and then took the kids out for dinner. There was no way that I was cooking in this house! We went to McDonalds where I had a grilled chicken Caesar salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette. Watching the kids eat french fries was such torture!!! But I'm sticking to it! I'll step on the scale and post some results on Friday. That way I'll be 5 days into it!! According to Wii Fit yesterday I had lost 1.4 pounds from Monday.....Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-27012123402955175512009-07-28T08:01:00.001-07:002009-07-28T08:04:29.485-07:00I made it to day twoI did good yesterday. No cheating! It was really hard though. Especially the not having bread part. I wasn't thrilled with the lunch of turkey wrapped in lettuce. I think I'll go for a salad today. I made a really yummy coconut chicken recipe for dinner. The afternoon I think was the hardest part. I drank a ton of water and had some almonds and pistacios which I am allowed to have. Now we're into day two. Started out the morning again with scrambled eggs and turkey bacon but this time I put a little cheese on the eggs jazz em' up a bit! I'm staying off the scale for a day or two though if I do happen to get on Wii Fit today it will do the weighing..... I am having some massive sugar withdrawls. I went to bed with a horrible headache that Tylenol didn't help and though it's better this morning it's still there!! I'm just hoping this will get easier as the days go by!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-47325013429702711922009-07-27T08:22:00.000-07:002009-08-10T11:15:46.811-07:00South Beach Kick OffToday I begin my South Beach endeavor... I'm hoping that I can stick to it and it becomes a lifestyle. I started off the day with scrambled eggs and two slices of turkey bacon. Not too bad. I am beginning this journey at 173 pounds by hopeful goal is 140 with an ultimate goal of 135. I plan to walk Lake Padden or do some hiking at least 2 days a week and work out on my wii fit 4-5 days a week (you should see my mii she's so fat). Anyway I will post here from time to time with the foods that I've had and my progress. Hopefully with the support of my family and friends I can make this work for me!! Wish me luck!!!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-83229519350174562652009-07-22T10:48:00.000-07:002009-07-22T10:52:10.187-07:00New Neighbors
Anyone that has moved into a new house in their lifetime knows that new homes come with new noises and sounds. This place is so much quieter than we are used to. At the old house we had a train behind the house and the airport not far and here...nada. So we are sitting out on the deck one night and we hear the weirdest noise. One we have never heard before. Upon some investigation this is what we found....

This guy along with 3 others live in a tree in our backyard. They don't hoot like most owls do they make a very strange noise that is hard to describe. We think there are babies too. How cool is that???Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-77467560671643249532009-07-12T14:12:00.000-07:002009-07-12T14:28:01.332-07:00BaptismOn July 5th our little family was baptized. It's something that has been tugging at my heart strings for a while and when Lena asked about being baptized I knew it was time to obey God and go forth with this very important, very public statement of my faith. Jason also decided it was time for him as well. We were not possitive about Aaron as we belive that baptism is a choice. Something that one has to decide upon themselves. He said he wanted too but we were not sure if it was because he wanted to in his heart or because the rest of us were. He gave valid reasons and we all decided he was ready. Jason went first and then was able to baptize both of our children which was an amazing thing for me to be able to witness. I went last and Jason was also able to baptize me which was a very significant thing for us as it was Jason that led me to Jesus. So our family all together did this amazing thing and now are on to the next steps in our journy...new house, new life...great start!!!

Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-78250529958404507532009-07-12T13:56:00.000-07:002009-07-12T14:03:45.981-07:00Our New Home

I seem to neglect this poor blog and vow to try and write more often now that we are settled. We finally have moved. I thought I would be sadder leaving our old house but amazingly did very well when we pulled out of the driveway for the last time. Lena and I rolled down our windows and waved goodbye to our old house. Unfortunatly that wasn't the begining of our new adventure. There were 10 days between the closing of our old house and the closing of our new house. Thank God for our friend Sean who actually had room for the 4 of us and allowed us to stay with him. It wasn't the best as Sean is a single guy and used to his solitude and here we came with our two children and two cats and invaded his space!! But given the circumstances it was alright and better than staying in a hotel! On July 1st we got the keys to our new house and moved in!!! We LOVE LOVE LOVE our new home! There is so much room and the kids have their own space and I have the most AMAZING kitchen ever! I've been cooking and baking like a wild woman!! I need to stop before I gain another 10 pounds!!! So out with the old and in with the new the Cory's have begun a new chapter in their lives and we are SO excited about it!!!

Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7600288615978682298.post-33360574725486569002009-05-18T12:16:00.000-07:002009-05-18T12:22:43.020-07:00Going...going.....on the market!

Our house it up!! Whoo hoo!!! The last two months of back breaking labor to get this sucker up is over and ready or not here it goes! We did a ton of work on the house and it looks amazing. Jason and I joke that our house hasen't been this clean since we moved in 10 years ago!! We have found two houses that we really like and now the waiting game. We wait for ours to sell so we can make an offer on the one we want and hope that it doesn't sell in the mean time. I am most likely one of the most impatient people you will ever meet so this whole hurry up and wait thing is killing me. I know it is all in God's timing and when it's time it will go.... now I just need to remind myself of that everyday!!! Selling our home is bitter sweet for me. I know once we've sold it we

will be moving up to a bigger and better house but I have lived here for 10 years. Both my kids were brought home from the hospital to this home. A lot of blood, sweat and tears have been shed here and I am going to be sad to see it go. BUT I know the future holds new beginnings and I am excited about that!Renaehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14517059219439001156noreply@blogger.com0
